Pontoon Beach, IL (April 17, 2005) Steve Sheppard won a thrilling United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Late Model main event at the Missouri/Illinois Dodge Dealers Tri-City Speedway as he edged out Brian Wolfmeier and Mark Oller for the win. Mark Voigt set the pace early on in the main event, but Voigt encountered problems as he came into lapped traffic. Voigt made contact with Joe Dresch and Voigt slipped back through the field after the incident. Brian Wolfmeier assumed the lead over Voigt on lap thirteen and Wolfmeier opened up a sizeable lead. That lead slipped away as he entered into lapped traffic allowing Sheppard and Oller to make it a three way battle for the lead. Sheppard took over the top spot and then held off Oller who was using the very bottom of the track. Sheppard crossed the line first and Wolfmeier edged out Oller for the second spot. Ken Rumble crossed the finish line just ahead of Rodney Melvin for the fourth spot.

Rusty Griffaw completed his second straight sweep at Tri-City Speedway in the UMP Modified division by winning his qualifying heat, the dash and the main event. Griffaw bested a stellar field of thirty-eight UMP Modifieds as he lead wire-to-wire in the twenty lap main event. Kyle Byerline kept the pressure on Griffaw but had to settle for the runner-up position. John Stanton claimed the third spot. Ray Walsh, who battled with Griffaw in the opening laps for the lead, slipped back to finish fourth. Dean Hoffman worked his way up from the eleventh starting position to round out the top five.

Brandon Hogenson grabbed the Sportsman feature event win as he found a fast line on the very top of the racetrack in the closing laps to run down and pass Jimmy Cummins. Cummins led the first fourteen laps of the main event before giving way to Hogenson. Bryan Slover recovered from an early incident and took his battered car to a third place finish. Don Patton took fourth and Bob Williams fifth.

Brad Yotter put on a dominating performance in the Street Stock division. Yotter took the lead early on in the main event and never looked back. Mark Pflueger worked his way from the back of the pack to claim the second position. Robby Benson came home third, Sam Kizer fourth and Darrell Morey completed the top five.

Ryan Kress held off Aaron Wood for the entire distance to win the Factory Stock division. Kress took the lead on the opening lap and Wood moved right in on his back bumper, but could never make the pass. The two battled side-by-side and nose-to-tail for the entire event. Gary Price made a charge for the lead but got too far sideways and nearly spun with just a couple of laps left and had to settle for third.
