Kevin Weaver & Mike Harrison battle for the win for the second straight night at Tri-City!

Pontoon Beach, IL (September 19, 2008) Kevin Weaver came up just inches short of victory on Thursday night at the Modified Mania, but Weaver would take home the top prize during Friday night's action. Weaver started on the pole for Friday's main event after winning the dash in a photo finish over Tim Hancock by .001 seconds according to the trandsponder system. Weaver jumped out to the lead as the green flag waved and opened up several car lengths on Hancock. As the laps clicked off, it was Thursday night's winner Mike Harrison on the move, coming from the twelfth starting spot. Harrison would come all the way to take the lead on lap twenty. But Harrison would only lead two laps. As the leaders reached lapped traffic, much of the traffic was using Harrison's line around the top, while Weaver worked the low side to retake the lead.
Weaver would work the lapped traffic flawlessly as the event went the entire thirty-five laps without a caution. Weaver pulled away to a convincing win in the closing laps. Hancock would find his way past Harrison as well in the closing laps through the lapped traffic. Harrison would settle for third at the end with Matt Mevert finishing fourth. Steve Picou had an excellent run through the field to finish in the fifth spot and starting eighteenth. UMP DIRTcar Modified National point leader Jeff Leka finished sixth for the second straight night. Denny Schwartz would finish seventh with Kent Robinson, Chad Evans and Randle Sweeney completing the top ten.
