Pontoon Beach, IL (July 31, 2009) The Tri-City Speedway track crews had the 3/8 mile dirt oval in perfect shape and it provided some of the best racing of the 2009 racing season!

In the Super Late Model division, Randy Korte of Highland, Illinois stormed from the eleventh starting position to win by a car-length over Tim Manville. Mark Voigt set the pace early on as he took the lead from the pole position at the drop of the green flag. Voigt dominated the first half of the race as he opened up a five car-length lead over Kevin Cole and Manville in the early laps. Meanwhile Korte was working his way toward the front of the field. On lap twelve, Cole would clip one of the big tires used to mark the infield damaging the nose of his machine, but it didn't seem to slow him down much. Just a few laps later, Korte and Manville would dispose of Cole and move in on the leader Voigt. The three of them battled two and three wide for the lead. The battle raged on for several laps before Voigt began to fade leaving the battle between Korte and Manville. They swapped the lead back and fourth during the final two laps. Korte would get a better run off the top as they exited turn four to take the checkered flag to win by a car length. Billy Moyer, Jr. worked his way through traffic as well as he took the third spot. Rick Salter came on strong in the closing laps to take the fourth spot just ahead of Voigt.
The Modifieds didn't disappoint as great battle raged on all throughout the top ten for all twenty laps of the main event. The battle early on was between Tommie Seets, Jr. and Ray Walsh with Dane Gundaker joining the mix as well. As the event progresses, some other heavy hitters were making their way to the front to join the battle including Mike Harrison and Joe Dresch. Seets used an unusual line through turns three and four as he would dive in low entering turn three and let the car drift all the way out to the wall as he went through turn four. Harrison kept his machine right along side the outside wall all the way around the track and Dresch kept his car glued to the bottom. They put on a great three way battle for the top spot. In the end, it was Seets hanging on for the victory with Harrison taking second and Dresch third. Gundaker would finish a close fourth with Brent Mullins rounding out the top five.

Mark Oller would claim his fifth UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model feature win of 2009 at Tri-City Speedway. But it wouldn't be easy. Oller would battle early on Brant Kehrer and John Seets as the three battled two and three wide during the opening laps. Meanwhile, some heavy hitters were moving and shaking their way to the front including Dustin Griffin, Bobby Dauderman and Aaron Heck. Griffin would catch Oller and lap seven and the two would battle side-by-side for several laps. However, on lap twelve, Griffin would jump the cushion while running the high side, causing him to slip all the way back to the fifth spot. Griffin would regain his composure and begin his march toward the front again. Dauderman moved into the second spot when Griffin slipped and kept hounding Oller for the top spot until a late caution would reset the field with only five laps remaining. On the restart, Oller moved to the high side and opened a three car length lead over Dauderman and Griffin as those two battled fiercly for the second spot. Oller would take the victory with Griffin edging Dauderman at the line for the second spot. Aaron Heck would take fourth with Daniel Heck rounding out the top five.

Danny Ems won his eighth Street Stock main event of 2009. Ems got the lead from pole sitter Buddy Love on lap three and never looked back as he won handily over Tommy Gaither. Andy Beavers would finish third with Josh Jackson fourth and Buddy Love fifth.

Rob Shaw took the UMP DIRTcar Sport Compact (Tri-City Factory Stock) win. Jason Schmidt led the first nine laps before Shaw was finally able to pull along side. The two raced side-by-side for the next two laps before Shaw edged ahead on the final lap to take the victory. Chad Burgess would finish third with Mike Mandrell taking fourth. Jordan Suhre completed the top five.
