Pontoon Beach, IL (August 14, 2009) Randy Korte of Highland, Illinois put together another dominating night as he won both the Super Late Model and UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model feature events by huge margins. In the Super Late Model main event, Korte took the lead from his front row outside starting spot at the drop of the green flag and pulled away from the field. Korte finished the event with a half-track lead over the second place finisher. Meanwhile, some great battles took place throughout the rest of the top ten finishers. Tim Ratajczyk had a fierce battle with Chad Zobrist and Billy Laycock for second. The three of them battled for most of the second half of the event with Ratajczyk hanging on for a second place finish. Zobrist crossed the line third with Laycock taking fourth. Kyle Steffens brought home a great top five finish while making only his second start of 2009 at Tri-City Speedway.
Korte dominated the UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model feature event even more so than the Super Late Model event. Korte checked out on the field as he again won by a half-track and lapped all but the top five finishers. Bobby Dauderman also had a stellar run. After starting dead last in the main event, he galloped through the field to a second place finish. Casey Montague crossed the line in the third spot. Dustin Griffin and Eric Gowan had great runs in the main event and crossed the finish line in the fourth and fifth spots, but were disqualified after the event for failing to go the scales to weigh at the conclusion of the event. That gave the fourth spot to Matt Santel and the fifth position to Aaron Heck.

Ray Walsh, who has admittedly struggled this season at Tri-City Speedway, finally claimed his first Modified main event of 2009. Walsh led all twenty laps of the main event, but was continously challenged for the top spot by several drivers throughout the event. Brent Mullins pressured Walsh early on, then it was Marty Smith, Jr. throughout the middle stages of the race and finally it was Scott Weber pressuring Walsh in the closing laps. However, Walsh kept his machine up on the high side, using the cushion to his advantage to hold off all challengers while taking the win. Weber would cross the line in second with Mullins taking third. Joe Dresch would finish in the fourth spot with Chris Moore rounding out the top five.

Danny Ems claimed yet another Street Stock main event. Ems and Josh Jackson had a great battle for the lead for the first half of the event before Jackson spun in turn one trying to get under Ems. On the restart, Ems would pull away to take the win with Tommy Gaither finishing second. Jimmy Bell would finish in the third spot. Jackson would make a great run back through the field to finish in the fourth spot. Buddy Love rounded out the top five.

Jason Schmidt won his first UMP DIRTcar Sports Compact (Tri-City Factory Stock) main event of the 2009 season at Tri-City Speedway. Schmidt and Rob Shaw had a spectacular battle for the top spot as the two raced side-by-side and swapped the lead throughout the entire event. The two would cross the finish line side-by-side with Schmidt winning in a photo-finish by not more than a foot. Following the two across the line was Eldon Hemken finishing third with Trevor Isaak fourth and Chad Burgess fifth.
