Pontoon Beach, IL (August 28, 2009) Billy Faust of Highland, Illinois made a return to racing after taking most of the summer off and picked up right where he left off as he claimed feature victories in the Super Late Model and UMP DIRTcar Pro Crate Late Model divisions. A big field of 131 racecars filled the pit area even though the skies were threatening most of the afternoon and a light drizzle fell right up to race time.
Mark Voigt took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Super Late Model main event from his front row pole starting spot. Voigt opened a decent size lead as Tim Ratajczyk and Billy Faust battled for the second spot. Faust would finally get possession of the second spot on lap seven and proceeded to chase down Voigt. The two battled side-by-side for the top spot for a couple of laps before Voigt would slow in turn four as his left rear tire went flat. Faust would check out on the rest of the field after the restart, but a spectacular battle proceeded to take place for the rest of the top five positions. Tim Ratajczyk, Billy Laycock, Kyle Steffens, Rick Salter and Matt Weidner were all swapping the top five positions around. Bryan Collins also charged from the last place starting spot to join them in the fight. The caution flew on lap fifteen as Laycock stopped in turn four after contact sent him over the cushion and nearly into the wall exiting turn four. Laycock would have to restart from the rear and fight his way back to the top spot. Meanwhile, mechanical problems would also halt Collins' run as well. That setup a great battle for second between Steffens and Salter. The two raced out the final eight laps battling for the second spot with Salter just edging Steffens at the line. In the end, it was Faust taking the comfortable win, with Salter second, Steffens third. Ratajczyk crossed the line fourth and Laycock charged back through the field to complete the top five. The twenty-five lap main event ended just in time for Faust, as his right rear tire was completely flat as he rolled across the scales after the event.

In the Modified division, Brent Mullins of Litchfield, Illinois held off the challenges of Ray Walsh to earn his second victory of 2009 at Tri-City Speedway. Mullins, who said after the race he had his car setup to run the cushion on the high side, used the very bottom of the track to power his way to victory while Walsh used the big cushion that had built up around the top. Late in the race, Walsh jumped the cushion allowing Mullins to open up a small lead and forcing Walsh to race side by side with Kelly Devall in a battle for the second spot. As Mullins took the victory, Walsh just edged out Devall for the second spot. Rick Conoyer would finish a close fourth with Joe Dresch completing the top five.

In the UMP Pro Late Model division, Billy Faust claimed the feature win in that division also. But he had a fierce battle with Dustin Griffin for the top spot. Bobby Martintoni took the early lead at the drop of the green flag, but just three laps in Griffin would take the lead from Martintoni and open up a small lead. Meanwhile, Faust was battling his way to the front after starting in the seventh starting spot. Faust would soon dispose of Martintoni and take the second spot and proceeded to chase down Griffin for the lead. Griffin held tough as held off Faust for several laps, but Faust would soon find his way past Griffin as they battled lapped traffic. Griffin would battle back and actually make a successful slide job in turn two in front of Faust, but Faust would have the momentum and power back past Griffin on the inside. Faust would take the victory with Griffin finishing second. Aaron Heck charged to the front after starting in the tenth spot to finish third. Mark Oller also moved up from the eighth starting spot to finish fourth. Martintoni would complete the top five.

Danny Ems powered his way to his eleventh Street Stock feature win of 2009 at Tri-City Speedway. Ems has now won all but three Street Stock feature races at Tri-City Speedway this season. Tommy Gaither would finish in the second spot with Jim Bell claiming third. Josh Jackson would finish fourth and Terry McCann completed the top five.

The Factory Stock main event saw Rob Shaw take the victory over Bob Zbinden. The win moved Shaw to within seven points of the point lead currently held by Zbinden. Jason Schmidt finished in the third position and is just twenty-four points out of the top spot. Chad Burgess finished fourth and Jordan Suhre rounded out the top five.
