Pontoon Beach, IL (April 23, 2006) Off and on rain showers finally forced Tri-City Speedway officials to postpone the racing after the UMP Modifieds were in the middle of their feature event. Rain had delayed the program a couple of times earlier in evening, but a harder shower brought the show to an abrupt end as the UMP Modifieds had completed only six laps of their feature event. The UMP Modifieds, UMP Late Models and UMP Sportsman will all makeup their feature events on May 7th. The CARS Late Model Series event will be madeup at a later date yet to be determined. The Factory Stock division was the only class to get their main event in. Jon Rippeerda edged out Gary Price at the finish line by a half car length to earn the win. Gary Price was then disqualified because he was not the original driver of the car he was in. His brother, Jeff Price had signed in to race that particular car and had competed in the qualifying heat. Since he had changed drivers without notifying track officials and not starting the event from the rear of the field, officials did not allow him to keep the second place finish. That moved David Pulley, Jr. into the second position and Nancy Petty-Smith into a top three finish.

Racing continues next Sunday, April 30th, with a special event featuring the MARS/UMP Challenge Series. This special $5,000 to win event will be the first event of the 2006 racing season on the big 1/2 mile oval at Tri-City Speedway.
