Pontoon Beach, IL (October 4, 2009) Jared Landers of Blackwell, Arkansas had a miraculous weekend at Tri-City Speedway as he won all three nights of the Modified Mania and earned over $10,000 for his effort. At the Sunday evening finale, Landers took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led all thirty laps of the main event to earn the $3,000 victory and also claimed a $1,000 bonus for winning all three events. Landers only challenge came in the early laps as Rusty Griffaw battled hard for the lead. Lander was just too strong and slowly opened up the lead as the laps progressed. Griffaw would run in the second spot almost the entire event, however Kevin Weaver's late race charge would steal the second spot at the finish line. Griffaw and Weaver would cross the line in a photo finish with the transponders scoring Weaver just slightly ahead. Mike Harrison would finish in the fourth spot with Tim Hancock completing the top five.
Along with Landers, Michael Long, Tim Hancock, Mike Harrison, Ray Walsh and Randy Korte were the only three drivers to qualifying for all three events. Although Korte was unable to start the final event after his car flipped violently in the dash.

On Saturday, Rusty Griffaw set a new track record at Tri-City Speedway for Modifieds during qualifying when he turned a lap around the 3/8 mile oval in 15.991 seconds.

Sunday's UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event proved to be one of the most exciting events of the 2009 season at Tri-City Speedway. Dennis Erb, Jr. took the lead on the opening lap only to have Kevin Weaver slip by him in turns one and two on the second lap. As they battled in turn three, Erb would spin and bring out a caution. Weaver took the lead on the restart holding off the challenges of Michael Kloos. Mark Burgtorf started working the high side using the big cushion that developed about ten feet off the wall and moved past Kloos for the second spot. He would soon mount a challenge on Weaver for the lead. Weaver and Burgtorf would battle side-by-side for the final ten laps until Weaver slipped on the final lap causing him to fall all the way back to fourth. Erb recovered from his spin early on and charged back through the field and took the second spot on the final lap. Kloos would also get back Weaver to take third. Billy Moyer, Jr. rounded out the top five as he crossed the line behind Weaver.

In the UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model division, Daniel Heck took the lead at the drop of the green flag but it wouldn't be long before Gordy Gundaker moved in to fight for the lead. Gundaker and Heck raced side-by-side for several laps before Gundaker got the advantage. Bobby Martintoni would soon move into the second spot but Gundaker appeared to be pulling away. As the final fifteen laps went caution free, lapped traffic would come into play in a huge way. The veteran racer Martintoni patiently worked the lapped cars and reeled in Gundaker as he struggled passing the lapped cars that were running in his line on the high side. Martintoni would take advantage of lapped cars racing side-by-side to slipped past Gundaker. Martintoni would then pull away in the final laps to take the win. Gundaker would finish second with Bobby Dauderman finishing third. Mark Oller would finish fourth and Dustin Griffin rounding out the top five.
