Pontoon Beach, IL (May 7, 2006) A very busy night of racing was on the card at Tri-City Speedway as the night's racing action was started off with three makeup features from two weeks earlier that had been postponed because of rain. The pit area was also filled with 135 racecars for night's regular action. In the UMP Late Model makeup main event, last season's track champion Steve Sheppard roared to victory. Bryan Collins moved up through the field and captured the second position with Michael Kloos taking third, Jayme Zidar fourth and Brian Dively fifth. In the UMP Modified division, Ray Walsh used the high side to take the lead from Bobby Bittle in the closing laps to earn the victory. Tommie Seets, Jr., Leroy Haney and Matt Goulden rounded out the top five. Brandon Hogenson had a big night in the UMP Sportsman division, he earn two main event wins in one night as he claimed the first feature Jeff LeBaube, Chris Spaulding, Trista Stevenson and Jason Keller.

The night's regular main events provided some of the best racing of the young season at Tri-City Speedway. In the UMP Late Model main event, Randy Korte put an exclamation mark on his spectacular start to the 2006 racing season. Korte had to start 19th in the main event after missing the setup in his qualifying heat and then winning the last chance qualifier. After a caution on the initial start, the main event when green all the way to the checkered flag. Korte used this to his advantage as he started passing car on lap one and continued until he caught the leader, Craig Smith, with just four laps remaining. Korte disposed of Smith as easily as he had disposed the rest of the field and cruised to victory in the final few laps. Mark Voigt took the third position behind Smith with Billy Laycock and Steve Sheppard rounding out the top five.

The UMP Modified division provided a classic battle with the top ten cars racing two and three wide in one pack for the win. Tommie Seets, Jr. led the early laps before his dad, Tom Seets got underneath him and wrestled the lead away. Gabe Regot then got under Seets, Jr. and picked off the second position. Bobby Bittle, Ryan Driemeyer, John Stanton, Bobby Martintoni, Ray Walsh, Scott Weber, Leroy Haney and Matt Goulden were all battling and dicing at the front of the field. As the race reached the closing laps, Ryan Driemeyer found the right line on the high side and began moving forward quickly. On the white flag lap he pulled even with Tom Seets and the two raced side by side for the entire final lap. Ryan Driemeyer just edged out Tom Seets at the line to claim the win. Bobby Bittle picked up the third position with Tommie Seets, Jr. taking the fourth spot. John Stanton completed the top five.

Brandon Hogenson's great night continued as he claimed the second UMP Sportsman main event as well. Hogenson led every lap enroute to the win. Dennis Wernle claimed the second position with Mike Nicholson crossing the line in third. Jeff Lebaube took the fourth position and Jason Keller got his second top five of the night with his fifth place finish.

Ricky Huebner, Sam Kizer and Matt Koch had a great three-way battle for the lead for most of the Street Stock main event. Huebner used the high side and held off Kizer for the win. Koch settled for the third position with Robby Benson taking fourth and Eric Rensing completing the top five.

Ryan Kress and Bryan Garrett battled it out side by side for most of the main event in the Factory Stocks. Kress edged out Garrett by a nose at the finish line to earn the win. Jonathan Schulte, Jon Ripperda and Nancy Petty Smith rounded out the top five.
