Pontoon Beach, IL – (June 25, 2010) One hundred and thirty race cars filled the pit area on a beautiful sunny day to compete on the 3/8 mile dirt oval at Tri-City Speedway!

Twenty-four UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models checked in the gate to compete and in the end it was Craig Smith of Godfrey, Illinois claiming his third feature win of 2010 at Tri-City Speedway. Smith took the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the field relatively unchallenged until the very end. Billy Faust settled into the second position at the start of the event and ran the first twenty-three laps a few car lengths back of Smith, following him along the same line around the top. However, Faust was just waiting for the right opportunity to make his move and that came with just two laps to go as the two leaders reach lapped traffic. As they exited turn two to head down the back stretch, Faust moved past Smith on the low side as Smith had lost momentum around the top as he worked past a lapped car. Faust took the white flag and appeared on his way to victory. However he would jump the cushion in turns one and two and lose a lot of momentum and Smith would clip him as he tried to moved past for the lead. Faust would end up facing the wrong direction in turn two to bring out the caution. Smith would cruise to victory on the restart with Mark Voigt edging Ken Schrader for the second spot. Brian Wolfmeier would finish in the fourth spot and Billy Laycock would charge from the eighteenth starting spot to round out the top five.

Mike Harrison put on a dominating performance in the UMP DIRTcar Modified main event. Harrison fended off the early challenges of Bobby Regot, III and then after a late race caution, a challenge from Tommie Seets, Jr. to take the win. Seets would finish second with Regot taking third. Rick Stevenson would finish in the fourth position. Trista Stevenson had her best run of the 2010 season to finish in the fifth position.

In the UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model main event, Scott Weber took the lead with just two laps remaining and then held off a final lap charge from Casey Montague to get the win. Brant Kehrer paced the field early on before Casey Montague took over the top spot. Montague then proceeded to lead most of the event. Montague and Weber battled for the final eight laps with Weber finally getting the lead with two laps remaining as he rode the high line around the outside of Montague in turns three and four. Montague would fight back and pull along side Weber on the final lap as they exited turn four, but Weber’s momentum around the high side would take him to victory lane. Montague would finish second with Bobby Martintoni taking third. Jeremy Nash would finish fourth as he charged through the field from the twentieth starting spot. Aaron Heck would complete the top five.

A big field of thirty-five Street Stocks were on hand for the $500 to win special event. Last week, Andy Beavers would charge through the field and make a last lap pass for the win. This week, Beavers found himself out front from the start and he looked strong as he led most of the event, holding off some serious challengers. With cars racing two and three wide directly behind Beavers as he led, Beavers kept his car out front lap after lap. Brad Venhaus would try and make a move under Beavers as the exited turn two on lap fifteen, but Venhaus would get sideways and spin to the infield and take himself out of competition for the win. That would put Danny Ems in the second spot on the restart and Ems would post a serious challenge for the lead a few laps later. Ems would suffer the same fate as Venhaus, spinning exiting turn two just a couple of laps later. The restart would set up another great battle for the lead with as many as seven cars running two and three wide at the front. Jimmy Bell would go to the top and use the big cushion built up near the wall to find speed and more momentum and he would pull along side Beavers for the lead as they took the white flag. The two would race side by side for the entire final lap with Bell using the cushion to get a big run exiting turn four and powering past Beavers for the win. Beavers would take second with Josh Jackson charging to third from his eighteenth starting spot. Steve Fohne would finish fourth and Terry McCann fifth.

The Factory Stock division didn’t disappoint the fans either as they would swap the lead lap after lap and run three-wide for the lead the entire last lap. Trevor Isaak, Justin Hall and Willie Myers rubbed fenders and traded paint the entire last lap as they raced three-wide for the win. Isaak would win by a half-car length over Hall with Myers another half-car length back in third. Jacob Rexing was right there with the leaders as well and took fourth. Blake Jost would finish a close fifth.
